Why it matters: MilSim West runs some of the largest multi-day airsoft events in North America, and first-person vlogs from new players are a main way the format reaches people who have never attended. This one comes from a bilingual creator with a manufacturer credited in the title.
Lilly Tactical, a YouTube channel that posts in English and Japanese, published the first of two gameplay videos from the creator's first MilSim West event on October 19. The 16-minute video is titled "JUMP TO ORENBURG" and carries "LILLY×ARCTURUS" in its title; the description thanks Arcturus, an airsoft replica maker, and MilSim West. The description says a second gameplay video will follow, and a third will show the creator's full kit.
Jump to Orenburg is listed on airsoft event calendars for September 25 to 27, 2026, at Horseshoe Bend Ranch. In the video, Lilly describes the site as about 3,000 acres and "super super duper big," and adds, "I just hope I don't die."
MilSim West player pledge and night insertion
Before play starts, the video shows players repeating a pledge line by line: they will call their hits, will not touch anyone or their gear without consent, will respect everyone in the venue and will not leave trash. The last line gets a variation from the crowd, "I will not be trash," which players repeat back.
The squad's insertion is staged as a jump from a C-130, which Lilly jokingly calls a U-Haul. Leaders split the group into sides that go in turn, and one voice tells players to move "nice and easy" and not rush. Lilly then narrates from camp at 2:30 in the morning, saying the plan is to sleep as much as possible because the next day will have none.
Trench building and hill positions on day two
The morning footage opens on the landscape, which Lilly calls beautiful enough that "if it was just camping, it would be great, too." By about 9:18 the squad is kitted up and waiting for orders. Lilly says the walking has been painful because of ribs that are still healing.
“Much of the video is the work between fights: walking, digging in, building shelter and waiting for orders.”
Tess Marlowe, The ReticleAt the squad's base, players set up in a trench and build shelters from tarps and sticks. Orders later send a group partway up a hill with instructions, relayed in the video, to stop short of the top while keeping it in view. The footage records contact near the summit and a plan to fall back only partway down the hill if pushed.
A leader then reports that the opposing force, referred to in the video as the Russians, has come up a road and is next to the squad's trench, and sends players back to set up a base of fire. Another platoon takes over the forward position.
Large assault on a dug-in trench line
The longest sequence is a defense of the trench line. Leaders call out an enemy group about 200 yards ahead moving along a tree line, place players in a large pit, ask for a machine gun in the center of the line and tell everyone to stay close to cover and keep a lane open behind them. The instructions repeat through the fight: do not shoot until the attackers are in range, conserve ammunition, hold fire and let them come over the crest. Calls for medics follow as players are hit.
Afterward, Lilly says the position was hard to hold because players had to put their heads up to shoot and were eventually hit. Another player calls the sight of so many people running down the hill "amazing." Lilly's summary is that a good base is not enough "when there's too many enemies, sometimes you will lose," and that the battle was worth it. Part one ends with the squad packed up and a night firefight starting, with players calling for reloads.
For context
- MilSim West is a veteran-owned company that runs multi-day airsoft events set in a fictional war between NATO and Russian forces, usually about 40 hours of continuous play from Friday night to Sunday.
- Its Orenburg-themed events date back at least to Objective Orenburg in April 2024, which the company listed at Horseshoe Bend Ranch in Centerville, Washington, on about 3,300 acres.
- Arcturus is a Hong Kong-based maker of airsoft replicas, including AR-pattern electric rifles sold through large US retailers.
- Airsoft players call their own hits; there is no paint or other marking, so events rely on an honor system.
